Sankoo district is carved out of Kargil district, with Sankoo town as headquarters.
It will have four tehsils.
Ladakh became a Union Territory (without legislature) on 31 October 2019.
घोषणा 16 अक्टूबर 2026 को हुई।
सांकू ज़िला कारगिल ज़िले से अलग कर बनाया गया है, मुख्यालय सांकू कस्बा होगा।
इसमें चार तहसीलें होंगी।
लद्दाख 31 अक्टूबर 2019 को (बिना विधानमंडल वाला) केंद्र शासित प्रदेश बना।
